Heide-Motorsport wants to score points at the Lausitzring: Proven driver line-up and race premiere in the steep corner

The Audi team is motivated for the second weekend of the DTM Trophy // For the first time, the drivers will take the steep turn 1 under their wheels

This coming weekend, the second of a total of seven DTM Trophy race weekends will take place at the Lausitzring. For the first time this season, fans will be allowed in the grandstand at the German season opener of the production-based GT championship as part of the DTM.

As in the season debut of the DTM Trophy, Heide-Motorsport will start with three Audi R8 LMS cars. For Sophie Hofmann, who is at home in Waldenburg (Saxony), the track between Berlin and Dresden means racing at home. After a strong performance in Sunday’s race at Monza, she wants to build on her achievements and is particularly excited about the new track variant. The 4.562-kilometer track continues at the end of the home straight into the 300-meter steep turn, which, with an angle of inclination of almost six degrees, is new territory for all pilots in the series.

As usual, the second car of the team from Witten will be driven by the young Swiss Lucas Mauron. The 23-year-old wants to put his disappointing debut weekend behind him and is doing everything he can to build on his performance from last year and score his first points of the season. A goal that GT specialist Jörg Viebahn, who takes the wheel as the third driver, has already achieved. With 10th place in the first race of the season, he ensured Heide-Motorsport’s first points finish and is looking forward to further working together with the team at the Lausitzring.

Team owner Michael Heide is looking forward to the upcoming race weekend with anticipation. “In Monza we had to contend with problems, but at the Lausitzring the cards will be reshuffled. The whole team is very motivated, and we will give everything to achieve the results we hope for.”

The DTM Trophy starts as part of the DTM. After the season opener in Monza (Italy), the second race weekend will be held at the Lausitzring from July 23-25.
On Saturday and Sunday, one qualifying session and one race each are on the schedule. The races will be broadcast live on free-TV on SPORT1 and streamed on DTM Grid (grid.dtm.com). On DTM’s own platform, the practice sessions and qualifying sessions are also available to fans in front of the screens.
