Great anticipation for the season opener at the Lausitzring

In just over a week, the 2022 DTM Trophy season will begin at the DEKRA Lausitzring Turn 1. As in the previous year, Heide-Motorsport will field three Audi R8 LMS cars in the championship for production-based sports cars, which is running within the DTM platform. With Mikaeel Pitamber (RSA) and Sophie Hofmann (DE) already confirmed, the driver line-up is now complete with Thiago Vivacqua (BRA).

The 25-year-old achieved his first successes in motorsport at an early age. He started racing at the age of eight and won five Brazilian karting championships in three seasons. After two years in formula racing and a successful season in the GT Open, from which he emerged as silver category champion, it was quiet around Thiago Vivacqua for a few years. All the more reason to look forward to attacking the DTM Trophy with Heide-Motorsport.

“For me, the 2022 season marks the beginning of a new chapter in my motorsport career. I’m delighted to be tackling this together with Heide-Motorsport and can’t wait for it to finally get underway,” said Heide-Motorsport newcomer Thiago Vivacqua ahead of the first race weekend.

“It’s great to welcome exciting talent to our team again in our second season in the DTM Trophy. I am sure that we are well positioned with Sophie, Mikaeel and Thiago and that they can also benefit from each other’s experience. We are all super motivated and looking forward to the season opener,” expresses team boss Michael Heide.

The DTM Trophy championship will comprise seven race weekends with 14 sprint races in the coming season, starting in mid-May at the DEKRA Lausitzring Turn 1. All races will be broadcast live and in full length.
